We (my wife, her sister and me) stayed in Cottage 2 at Aros Mains in late May 2014. The cottage is down a rough track off the main road between Salen and Tobermory and is easy to reach and access. The location is convenient for all of north and central Mull and is about an hour from the ferry to Iona, the furthest point away on Mull.

The cottage is comfortable with two bedrooms on the ground floor and a large bedroom with ensuite in the roof. The kitchen is well equipped as is the living room with TV and DVD. The price is also very reasonable for the facilities.

There is easy access down to the beach with stunning views of the sound of Mull and wildlife. We didn't actually see an otter but wait long enough and they'll come. We also on the first evening had a stunning sunset light over the mountains on Mull to the west over Salen.

Maggie who owns and runs the cottage was very friendly and helpful in booking the cottage and arranging access. She also brought some lovely scones on our last day.

A great cottage in a great location.

We stayed at Cottage no. 3 at Aros Mains Steadings for a week at the beginning of October. This was our second visit and I'm booking for next year now. Very comfortable, with a great view of the ruined castle from the living accommodation which was upstairs to get the best of the views.

Maggie was great - and so were her scones!

We stayed in Cottage 3 for a week before Easter, and although the weather was chilly and wet for most of the week, it was great to come back to the cosiness of this, bright and comfortable cottage. The setting was lovely and a great location for exploring this beautiful island. There was everything we needed and even 2 toilets!

We'd love to come back one day and see Mull basking in warm sunshine!

We stayed at the Castle Steading, Aros Mains 7th - 14th May. The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything necessary for an enjoyable stay. The situation is superb near the ruins of Aros Castle with lovely woods and a shoreline walk beside the Sound of Mull. Situated north of Salen, Aros Mains is ideally situated to explore Mull with easy access to Tobermory, Dervaig and Calgary and Loch Na Keal and Ulva.

We were made to feel very welcome by the family and felt very much at home. Cottage 2 easily accommodated our party of two grandparents, son and daughter in law and our seven month old grand daughter. A cot is provided and bedding and towels were also included. You need to bring your own cot sheet if you use the cot.

Don't miss the Isle of Ulva, Calgary Bay, Dervaig, the Mull Cheese Farm, Glengorm Castle and of course Tobermory and its distillery. We enjoyed the Sea Eagle boat trip out of Ulva Ferry and encounter these birds at close quarters.
